THIS ARTICLE MAY CONTAIN SEVERAL SPOILERS ABOUT THE ORIGINAL DINK SMALLWOOD AND/OR IT'S D-MODS!

"Are you high?"

-The Old Guy to Dink Smallwood.

The Old Guy is a minor character introduced in the Original Dink Smallwood, and is needed to complete the quest to free the man from the Condemned Mines.

BackgroundEdit

No much background information is given about The Old Guy. Not even his name is told in the Original Game.

The Old Guy lives all by himself in Terris, in a house one screen south of the tavern. He seems to be somewhat of an outsider to all the other people and he is never talked about by anyone, but the Terris tavern keeper, when Dink asks help to free the man from the Condemned Mines.

The Old Guy knows the Acid Rain spell, referring to him being a magician or at least being taught by a magician, like Dink got taught Fireball spell by Martridge.

The Old Guy seems to forget things, or at least names as he is constantly caught saying Dink's name wrong. This refers that maybe The Old Guy has gotten a little bit crazy living all by himself.

In the Original GameEdit

Dink is trying to save the man from the Condemned Mines, and asks for help in the tavern in Terris. He gets told by the bartender that The Old Guy lives south, in his house. When Dink talks to The Old Guy, he teaches Dink the Acid Rain spell (before this he requires Dink to have at least 5 of the Magic stat). This spell can free the man imprisoned in the Condemned Mines.

In D-ModsEdit

The Old Guy hasn't seemed to gain enough popularity amongst Dinkers to yet make it to D-Mods, except in a few cases as a minor character.

The Old Guy is rumored to be one of the protagonists in the upcoming D-Mod The Bigerical Curse.

TriviaEdit

  • The Old Guy seems to like to keep his door locked for unknown reasons.
  • The Old Guy seems to forget Dink's last name easily, maybe referring to amnesia or dementia, or maybe he has just gotten crazy living all by himself.
  • The Old Guy knows the Acid Rain spell. How he has learned the spell is never explained.
  • The Old Guy is a required character in The Original Game to save the imprisoned man in the Condemned Mines.
  • The Old Guy's house is in the Screen 530 in The Original Dink Smallwood game.
